Description

Hand carts were widely used by the U.S. Army and Marine Corps from WWI through the Vietnam war. Whether carrying weapons or supplies, these small carts evolved into sophisticated, easy to transport, multi-use carriers that were well respected by the soldiers that used them. The U.S. used 22 different cart models from 1917 through 1953 with a small number being retained through the Vietnam War!

Until this publication, information on US military hand carts has been scarce. Meanwhile, prices on these highly collectible pieces have been skyrocketing! Author Tim Scherrer, with the assistance of major cart collectors including Craig Johnson, Mark Van Klaveren, and Robin Bartel, has produced a well-researched, beautifully illustrated history of the US military hand cart. Many previously unknown information is presented in the book, including cart production contracts, testing by the Infantry Board in 1935-36, airborne use during Operation Overlord & Market Garden as well as the different variations on these carts.

If you love US military history, this book is a "must have" for your library!
